Hi, i cant get normal fet driver, so i decided to drive it with GDT.

They need to get 12V to turn fully on (IRF510) so i think it should be easy.

But as for starting point i need to amplify signal from 74HC04 (inverter with feedback antenna)

can i just add here one BC639 and BC640 directly to inverter chip, or through some resistor? Do i need some higher frequency T?

something like this crappy image:
Drive (those <> are mistake, both E and C should be turned around)

TC will run at appx. 400kHz (small one)

Thanks for all responses, and have a nice day.

If you mean to use a push-pull emitter follower circuit, it won't work with 5V logic because it can't amplify voltage.

In order to drive such a circuit from 5V logic you need some sort of level shifter.

A BS170 mosfet and 100 ohm resistor to +12V worked well for me, but note this inverts the signal.

Well here is a nice gate driver:

If you use mosfets instead of bipolars for the totem pole you can capacitively couple the input signal into them and use it as a voltage amplifier as well as a current amp.

Although for the added complexity of getting that all to work without blowing up the top fets gate at turnon and to keep them both exploding from shoot-through, you are probably better off just adding the little class A amp like Arcstarter shows (although keep in mind that won't work well with fets in the totem pole, bipolar are much better due to the lower capacitances). Just make sure that the pullup resistor has enough juice to force the lower transistor into saturation.
