Just wondering if anyone has attempted encasing a Tesla coil in a giant vacuumed glass globe or something similar? wouldn't putting the chamber under pressure and filling it with some inert gas make some very impressive and continuous streamers?
Also has anyone attempted any experiments with ferrofluid and Tesla coils?

You may not even need to use a vacuum; certain gases like argon and helium are much easier to ionize than air, even at atmospheric pressure. People have done some experiments in this are. I've seen pics of them before and hopefully they will post them here.
As for ferrofluid, I don't think a TC would affect it. The magnetic field produced by a running coil is not THAT strong, and even if it was the pulses are far too short to produce a noticeable movement.

Keep in mind you may want some good old atmospheric pressure air to insulate some parts of the circuit to keep it from arcing between primary and secondary coils, but on the other hand it probably would be pretty cool.
