Good Day coilers..

Today I build my MOT Power Supply .. cheesey

It is composed by 4 MOTs, totaling about 9kv @ 500mA.

Still want to make a ballast for control of current ...

One thing that I will give emphasis to this source is the conection 110/220V for various environments ...

Is not ready yet, but put the photos of it being like this ... tongue

BtW, quite a few mots are 2500V rated output... so you'll be closer to 10Kv 0.4-0.5 Amp. You going to be pulling monster flames. I once ran a 5 pack and managed a peak of 1 amp before my 30A breaker popped like a firecracker.

Good Day Coilers....

After a long time, I finished my Tesla coil ..

I had some problems in the first test, but it solves, until the moment it about 5 foot of sparks, but I had a little problem, one of the mot of my source burned cry , so not to lose the day, modified and used only 3 mots , The result was excellent for a first test .. shades

I intend to get this source as soon as possible, with a word out, the power has dropped considerably, then want to buy a new and fast ..

Some pictures: amazed

Great coil!! You are really good at coiling, IMO. I also really like your zvs powered tesla coil(that is you right? I am confused now that you changed your name all up..).

Bloody good job!! Some great pics too!
Can you give us some info on your cap bank and the RSG
you are using? And did you end up ballasting your supply?

Good Day Coilers!!

In my RSG'm using an engine with about 3450 RPM, for the coil seems incredible that it worked with the speed of the engine.
The disc was made of acrylic with 12 contacts of brass, the fixed contacts are made of pure copper ..

Some pictures of him ...

1223067469 1228 FT51236 Pict98

The Cap Bank It made with the association of 40 of capacitors 100nF @ 1600V each, put 10 in series and 4 series of 10 in parallel, for a total of 40nF @ 16kV ... resistors of 10M were placed in each cap ..

and for ballast my power suplly, i use a hot water heater elements, I intend to improve this item with a Rotary Switch, with several sections, thus have a better control over the power source placed in..

And a pictures of my complet power suplly..

Very impressive! If you do not mind me asking, where did you get those mice caps? How much did they cost? They are obviously very good quality.

When I went to Alexandre House I saw this caps, that are Big Ass 100nF 1600V caps, for good current capability and works good at 500kHz (They are IGBT Snubber Cap)

It costs arround R$6 here (US$3,5) but the distribuitor have a minimum quantity of 40.

Alexandre may correct me if I am wrong.
