WOW! How dumb can you be. I mean, really!

Probably a good thing the article doesn't have any pictures.

it has pictures now... copper theives are idiots, plain and simple, we had some people steal the copper wiring from all four of the light poles at my school football field (all the way to the top)... but nonetheless I guess they hate dumping pennies in hydrochloric acid to free the copper from the zinc

I very rarely comment on the suffering of others but this low-functioning jackass is obviously a real prize..... Watch how this gets turned around and the power company will be brought to court for not doing enough to protect the vicious energy from harming the victims of power-pole assault.

The problem with copper thieves is that they only get a few hundred dollars worth of copper which costs thousands of taxpayer dollars to replace, if not more.

I have -zero- sympathy for this guy and I hope as he recovers they try and convict him, just cause you botched your criminal act and nearly got yourself killed in the process doesn't let you off the hook.

This type of thing happens almost all the time now, what with rising copper prices, and people who don't realize those wires are 40 feet up for reasons other than making it harder to steal. Nobody deserves to die for it, though.

The cruelest irony, however, is when someone is killed/maimed trying to steal HV transmission lines that they assume are copper but are actually made of aluminum...

(not that i EVER will) but if i was to steal copper i would pick a air conditioning unit before the friggen distribution lines that may be aluminum. Bottom line is that he is a total idiot for doing that.
