I can't make it work by using 1,5KW SSTC, but i don't have detector, just old tv screen...(no blink in screen)
I found it between other tubes...

I don't think CRT TVs respond to xrays, just charged particles...

I'm guessing that the x-rays (if they could get through the glass) would pass right through the phosphors and keep going. I think that the glass in the front is a couple inches thick and also it's leaded.

EDIT: Aprox 3/4 of an inch from the broken TVs I have seen around. It's pretty thick. The glass at the other end is thinner though.

yeah there is like 10 pounds (may be an exaggeration, but a ridiculously big number in reality) of lead in a CRT monitor... don't think the glass is THAT thick though.

inside a TV i found a cable that said "X-ray shielding" it was just looped aroun inside.
