title says it, just a magnetic mount antenna for 2-meter and 70-cm... as long as it does not blow my budget to shreds, it certainly has to be better than what I am using right now...

I dunno, I guess for the same reason that when there are 4 of exactly the same items, from the same seller, and only 4 people bidding on the item, that one guy will try to bid on your item just to drive up the price. Ebay is a crummy place to shop, because some people take it as a competition as well as a sale of a good. The bad part is, Ham Radio gear is not one of those things you can just go to <Gasp> "Radio Shack" and buy. Most of the places that sell the new gear, have jacked the prices up so high that almost no one can afford them. Most of the places that have old but working and useful gear are being watched by all of us on a budget that want that new HF transceiver. Antennas, amplifiers, towers, all that kind of thing can be home brewed. If you don't have the ARRL handbook yet, it is definitely one of those things you want to have on hand. The price tag is steep, like 50 bux, but it goes over basic electronics, advanced electronics, antenna construction, amplifier construction, RF theory, and is generally a good book.

You said it! I won't do Ebay - period. I do support most web page sales and this one (4HV) has had some really ethical people selling stuff.
