I have built steve ward's micro sstc driver sucessfully and i was wondering if there is any way that i could modify the schematic for audio modulation. I have couple of ideas. 1) Put the audio signal into pin 5 of the 555 with in series with a 10nf or so capacitor.
2) Add a transistor on the output of the fet driver chip with the audio signal feeding into the base. Tell me what you think about which one is better or if you have any suggestions on other ways to do it. Also do you think that if i used secondary base feedback through a current transformer would the preormance be any better?

If you put the audio signal on pin 5 of 555, it wont work because its not 555 that is oscilating the coil, its the antenna, so if works, it will work with many noise on the sound, if it works.
About the second option, I dont know if it will work good, you may try. The better option is use a PLL to modulate the audio.

you'll definitely want to feed the enable pin a digital (square wave) Probably just make a simple Zero Voltage cross detector with a transistor.. though keep in mind it won't sound very good.
