if you find a suitable ocilator you can use a divide by 2 like a d-type flipflop to create your A and B outputs. Thease outputs can be chopped with gates, or amplified with mosfet drivers. the MAX038 has a sync out that is TTL and goes to 20Mhz.

It might take a little while for them to be approved. however they always do.
Problem is Mike, both Mat and myself are in Australia, and they seem loathe to sample anything to us, but Maxim are one of the companies that do. But as you said, it would be easier to swim the pond and buy them!

As tempting as it is to swim to the other side of the pond, I have a logistics office in California which may help with the sampling process.
To all gentlemen involved, thanks very much for your feedback. This is the right solution to my problem.
There's a few available on eBay (2 for USD$10) which I'll nab, guaranteed. Failing that, we'll see if they sample. If everything works as expected, I should be able to afford buying them from DigiKey at the suckers price.
Next big question... the power electronics will need some significant reverse diodes to freewheel when the pulse-width isn't 50% (half-bridge drive here), otherwise lots of power will be reflected back into the FETs, no? Are schottkies to isolate the MOSFET body diodes necessary if I'm bypassing them with ultrafast diodes anyway?
