I was searching ebay and i stumbeled on these scr's. Link2 They look brand new and if i use the double scr correctly i could double the rated voltage. Here is the datasheet. Link2 Tell me what you think.

I think its definitely a good price for 4 of them, but then again its an auction. I normally try to avoid buying form sellers who appear to have absolutely no clue what they are selling, but based on the datasheet they may be just too good to pass up.

About doubling the rated voltage, I assume you are intending to use the two internal 1200V SCRs in series for 2400V? I'm not sure but I think they are intended to be used that way in normal operation and therefore the rating you are given IS for the two in series (each internal SCR is a 600V device).

Like I said not sure about that one tho, maybe someone can clarify.

I doubt that the rating is for both parts in series (especially since that datasheet has parts with only 1 scr and anti-series configuration) but your bigger problem will be triggering the parts. You could probably get away with only triggering one at a time and letting the other device avalanche (althought that would only work for voltages between about 1800-2400v) but really you would be better off with some kind of pulse transformer to fire both at once...

I have bought several things from that seller including my oscilloscope and they all had that sold as is but they all turned out to work fine so i do have some trust in him.

Actuall now that i look at it, it says max 1200v but i think that means that they make the same scr in 2 voltages and the one i was looking at has a voltage rating of 800v but im not sure if that is with them doubled or not. they do have seperate gates so it looks like they were used in some sort of sine wave chopper (not how i would hook them up) and that would mean that that is the rated voltage of each scr. *i could be wrong but that is my best guess*

According to the datasheet, these SCR modules are rated 800 V. Also, the datasheet doesn't mention connecting the two internal SCR's in series, so this is very likely to be the rating for each separate device.

Looks like scr halfbridge modules, just like igbt halfbridge module. I think this kind of scr modules were used in scr based induction heaters and older motor drives.

i dont get it, are studs better then modules or vice versa? Studs of the same value would be much more expensive.

Darn sniper. I was the guy you outbid. Oh well. Any chance you'll sell me one or two of them in about a week?
