It’s a good day! I just got and disassembled Very old computer monitors. I am thinking about things I could do with the flyback. All I could think of was Jacob’s ladder, life’s funny that way… So any body have any ideas?

So you can power lifters, small to average SGTCs, pulse ignition coils, charge caps big and small, jacobs ladders, etc..... Hope you can find yourself some drivers
CRT can be used if undamaged but you must rebuild all its control circuits, deflection, drivers, keep the flyback and everything maybe that you can draw few lines around the screen. Living monitor could make far better use!

There's a good ammount of copper wire in the de-gaussing coil it's probably wrapped in tape and atached to the fat part of the tube. There's enough for a TC secondary! There's some thicker copper wire in the deflection yoke enough for a TC primary. The tube itself makes quite a good high voltage capacitor. All you need is a spark gap to make a Tesla Coil.

WIre from monitor/TV CRTs I found least usable for winding anything, it is most usually massively varnished and ripping it apart leaves wire without insulation. WIre from relays etc. is far better for that.
CRT can have few bottle-cap capacitance and it would be similary lossy.

The discharge in the tubes has to be obscure to produce X-rays, so its hard vacuum. With gas trapped in the tubes you will never see X-rays. The atom- electrons collisions will not allow the electrons to gain enough energy to produce X-rays. You will not get dangerous X-rays from a luminiscent discharge.
