I've been meaning to try something like this for a while but haven't had the chance.
Anyway, today I took my coilgun, ripped out the coil, and replaced it with the bridge on my SSTC. I biased the bridge with 12 volts through a diode, to keep the PLL locked. Then, I let the coilgun caps charge, and fired them into the bridge!
The photos are long exposures, and each breakout is a 13J shot (120V) into the fullbridge. Interestingly, the coil is able to break out from the toroid in this configuration, due to the peak currents supplied by the cap bank. Connecting the coil directly means it can't break out.
Increasing the cap bank voltage to 325V for 100J shots into the bridge did not increase streamer length, it just make them fatter... I was going to try 500 volt shots into the bridge, but there wouldn't have been any point.

You could make an automated interrupter and have ISSTC. Pulsed at short durations you can get big spark for low input power and save your mosfets from blowing...

Seems equvialent to having a capacitor on the bridge power rails, no?I use a 10,000uF voltage doubler on mine...Fat arcs yes, and dead transistors as well,

As it turns out, yes (well sort of, the coil breaks out in random places). What I was hoping for was long single arcs, due to the short 'on' time, but it didn't quite work.
I was planning to eventually make it interrupted, and I was going to charge the caps from an inverter and discharge them into the bridge - resulting in the longest spark length from AA batteries
Anyway the bridge blew up last night so no doubt it'll be sitting in a corner for 6 months now
