The only thing I can think to do with them is run a LED for a very very long time. tongue

EDIT: I got that they can store 7290J... This seems too high. Anybody disagree? If not amazed

bwahaha... i can just imagine how much of a boost you'd get from an electric car/bicycle/whatever with these beasties onboard. Main headache is going to be the low voltage, for the maximum output current you'll need to parallel them which means making the biggest FET bank you've ever seen driving a 5 or so turn primary on a toroidal transformer. then some clever electronics to calculate remaining capacity and adjust switching waveform in realtime depending on loading.

The transformer will need to be wound Litz style for any hope of not burning out instantly, which means getting your 50 or so 22 gauge wires in a bundle, connecting to electric drill and twisting 'em. I've actually done this before but nowhere near this scale (made an HV primary, and have seen it done on commercial CCFL and UPS drivers)

Figure about 2-300 Amps for the motor based on what I've learned on studying the electric motorbike on Hackaday.

OTOH, someone over here is making Smart cars converted to electric drive, as the petrol engines aren't very reliable (koff head gasket /koff as based on Fiat engines) so they might be interested in these.

Regards, -A

In the description on that ebay page, it says max power output is about 8kW... at 2.7V that's 3kA!!! You probably could make a rapid-fire coilgun!

I always see those here at work. The ones we have are coke can sized and we use them for some sort of solar panel simulation. I don't think they simulate the panels directly as we have big friggin racks that do that. I just know they fit in there somewhere.

Ive been waiting so long for them to toss them in the recycle bin. No luck so far. frown

where do you get all these caps? the same company has a 3000F 2/7v boostcap, and also a cap bank thats like 370v (forgot capacitance) and totaled to over 1 million joules.
