Hi everyone

I present to you, my first Tesla coil!

Despite its size and output, I am still proud of it.

Supply: approximately 20kV 1mA, flyback driver input 17Vdc
Secondary: 800 turns of 0.127mm copper wire on a 50mm x 110mm form
primary: 6.75 turns of 1.75mm copper wire flat spiral coil, inner 90mm, outer 180mm
capacitor: 8nF 20kV pulserated
topload: 60mm sphere
resonant frequency about 655 kHz

To see all the pictures and read more about its construction please see the article I wrote about it here Link2

I cant link all the images here due to my host, goes nuts about deeplinking too much traffic.

Good coil! Makes me want to order some caps for a MMC from Elfa! Now you should make a nice casing for it smile

That is exactly what I am currently looking for, or maybe I will have to build one myself. Also trying to find some thin copper tube for the primary so its easier to tune.

Very nice ! I remember my first tesla coil, very similar to yours. Try to limit the corona losses as well as you can and you will have longer sparks. I used some big globes from a Christmass tree. They are very smooth, made by glass plated with a thin metal layer. I had no streamer output, still corona losses at the last turns of the secondary, but the arcs to the ground were bigggg....anyway they seems very big to me, at my first experiments.. :)
