Hi

Its time to start my newest project
my new tube arrived a few days ago and i love it. its an eimac 4-250a tube i bought from ebay very cheap. now i have everything together to build a nice vttc. i have some 590pf 30kv doorknob caps lying around, some power resistors and a mot.
now i have a question on the oldies in vttc coils.
what size and wire gauge should i use for my secondary coil to get the best performance? Toroid or no toroid?

heres a pic of my beauty

secondary: 0.25 mm magnet wire
primary: 2.5-4 mm^2 insulated wire
grid coil: 0.5 mm magnet wire
A bit of topload (a little toroid) helps.

Of course, you would use what you have around....

mhh, okay, ill use something around 20 primary turns, 20 feedback turns. 11x23cm secondary with 0,2mm wire, little topload. tank cap around 2,2nF

i finally tested the tubes filament, seems to work fine on my selfwound 5volt 20A transformer cheesey
