i would go brass dome nuts on your gap.. i think you will find hardened steel will burn away even faster than mild steel as is contains more carbon.. i use brass door knob and brass domes on mine and it works great!!

you say first light tommorow does this mean that your turning it on tomorow for the first time

if so doesnt it take a while to tune it coz it takes me a while

or is there a secret that i dont know smile

I also noticed that the stationary gaps on my rsg got so hot that it melted the plastic standoffs so i came up with a nice precision machined heatsink solution wink

Nice heat sinks! Let me know how they work for you. With the power level you are running, you might want more "fins" and a fan on them, maybe.

Tonight i did a demo for a bunch of people. I was pretty good. It still needs some more tuning to get longer sparks but it sure was impressive. here is the youtube vid. Link2 Here are some pics of my setup.

I still need to put the rsg under the coil so i dont have as much leakage inductance and i can tap the primary out 1 more turn.
