Hi Mates,

my name is Lukas and i come from Austria(so execuse my bad english).Im 16 years old and I attend a secondary College for engineering.

I first so at my scool some Crazy thing called Solid State Tesla Coil and i was really impressed about this thing,
Yesterday i tried to get a flyback from an old but very big Transformator. I only got a flash but not an arc. I think this only because our current runs with 50 Hz.I found a schematic for a flyback driver but there is some special Transformator needed wich i can't find in any german or austrian Electronicshop.

So can somebody tell me how to get up to those frequecies ?I heard about EXORs to double up the Frequencies ?
My transformator is giving 18Kv when it is inverted? Is this enough for a flyback? because it is really huge about 7 Kilogramms.

So wish you a nice Weekend,

Lukas

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Sounds like you found a mains transformer which you are mistaking for the flyback. Do you have any pictures? Flybacks can't run from mains because they'll saturate. The transformer in the flyback driver schematics is the flyback transformer itself.

Yeah tomorrow i'll post a pic?
And where do i get such an Flyback Transformer?
Later if this is going to work i will do a Plasma Speaker but first this?
Is there some chance to get this out of Old TVs?

You could take apart any CRT TV's to find the flyback. However careful when you are taking apart the TV since that the capacitors are likely to be charged.

For running the flyback transformer, I would use the pre-made driver already in the TV.

Why do you need a flyback for a solid state tesla coil? You only need that for a spark gap tesla coil.
Anyway, flyback transformers can be found in many electronic stores. The german name is "Zeilentrafo".
This video shows the arc a flyback can produce. It's not a tesla coil but still neat.

Oh I understand i mean i want to make a flyback not a Tesla coil.

I know that there are some high voltages need in TV to get out the electrons so i have to look if i find Something?
But for what Link2
is there a Capacitor and a Transistor?

So let me know if I understood it de Flyback Transformer is the most important thing to get an Flyback?

Look in TV where the thick red wire goes from the picture tube. The flyback will be a big black thing with the red wire sticking from it. Link2

I guess the two red wires are for Current and where is ground?
