Picked up a cute tranny (how wrong does that sound?) off ebay.
It's rated at 9kV and 0.145mA. It has a 300V tap at 34.5uA.
Anyone have any idea what this was used for? It's ex military.
Any ideas what I could use it for?

The writing on the side says DC output, and specifies a short-circuit output current of 750uA, so I suspect it's a Cockroft-Walton multiplier inside, either direct from the input, or from a small step-up transformer to perhaps 1-2kV (higher would start running into exessive insulation). Is there DC continuity across the input terminals? If so, it probably starts with a stetup transformer, if not then it's all multiplier.

What to use it for? There's not the output voltage for a lifter, or the power for a DC/deQ charging TC, but at that power it would suit charging can crsuhers and coin shrinkers perfectly. Or bug zapping - I'll bet it was from a military grade Insect-o-cuter

Sounds alright on 4HV. What forums do you tend to frequent then?

Yep, but the 300V doesn't have any either does the 9kV.

Are there other forums are there? :)
A friend pointed it out to me when I used the term and have not been able to not see it now.
