I've spent the better part of 3 hours scouring the internet for something i can use for a filament supply for my gu43 tube. Does anybody know of a good source for some low voltage transformers, or a good design for a homebuilt supply. The filament requires 13 volts at 7 amps.

Try to find a 12 V 150 W transformer and wind a few more turns (the same diameter wire) to get the right voltage. You need 13 V under load (with the fillament connected).
What is your mains voltage - I mean above or below normal - where I live the mains is 240V soooo a regular 12V transformer will give just about 13V with load (I have a simmilar tube that requires 13V for the filament). Afcourse this is a solution if you are not moving the device away from your "lab".
"Try a 150 watt halogen garden lamp transformer. You can even buy them from homedepo." - BUT have in mind that if the voltage (when the fillament has fully heated) is below the minimum required from the manufacturer, then you will shorthen the life of the tube considarably,
