I just got my adjust-a-volt variac in and i don't have a clue how it might be wired. Anybody familiar with these. It has 7 terminals on the block and i can trace the wire from the wiper to one of them and 2 of them appear to go inside to the primary i'm guessing, 3 of them are tapped at various points on the secondary (outside coil?). I can attach some pictures if you need them.

The wiper is connected to terminal 3, terminals 2 and 5 are connected together and to the tap. Terminals 1 and 4 look like they go inside to the primary. The rest is explained in the pics. I apologize if the pics are to big.

You should read continuity between every tap (1 through 7), there is no primary/secondary, its all just 1 winding. Some variacs do in fact have 2 isolated windings for primary and secondary, but i dont think this is one of them (i could be wrong).

Connect your 120V neutral to whichever tap is at the most CCW position (looks like 4). The 120V HOT goes to either 1 (for 120V out) or 2 (for 140V out). Take the output across your line input neutral (4) and the wiper (3).
