If anyone has experience with the Mini Brute TC design, help would be appreciated.
The Mini Brute tesla coil has a display board that indicates whether certain parts of the circuit are on or off. When I connect the resonant driver board into the display board something shorts out the voltage regulators (located on the resonant driver board) and makes them hot. There is not a single component on the display board, so what could possibly be causing a short to occur? The ONLY component on the display board is the LED driver IC socket. (solders on the socket look fine)

This has to be because the polarity of one connector is wrong. Make sure pin 1 on the resonant board connects to pin 1 on the display board. Several of the pins on the display board are ganged together, and if the connector is backward, the incorrect pins will be shorted together. On mine, the ribbon cable goes up from the resonant board and down from the display board.

You guys are absolutely right! I switched the cable direction and now it works. Nothing gets hot and I read 5v and 15v on the display board.
I initially assumed that the problem was in the logic power supply circuit itself. So I rebuilt that part of the circuit on a breadboard. That worked, so I then connected the display board and everything got hot again. Now I knew that the problem was in the display board. I was so sick of those stupid voltage regulators heating up that I desoldered each part of the display board to isolate the bad part. But obviously there was no bad part (EXCEPT FOR THE CABLE) I feel stupid for taking the display board apart, but at least I know where the problem was. Thanks again
