My brother (who is much more into rockets than HV) has been watching me over the past months in my HV hobby, and seems to finally have found a use for all of those photoflash caps that I have been collecting, an ignition system for his rockets. Our first iteration used a 330uf 400V (charged to 300V) power filter cap as a proof of concept, and it seems to be good up three or four Estes Solar igniters at the same time. For that box, we simply used on of my dad's old spare relays from his car repairs.
Now, since we know the concept works (well might I add), I decided to let him use my 60J (330V 1280uf) photoflash bank for the next iteration. However, the relay does not scale well, and is easily fused shut every single shot (as opposed to every 20 shots or so with the 330uf cap). I recently found out about SCRs in the EMPA section of the forum, however, I have no clue as to what to look for. Any help would be much appreciated.

Firefox, for what you're describing it seems like something like this would be plenty powerful enough: with a 3.5kA surge rating, a 60J discharge would be nothing.
Or even this: Even rated for "only" 1.8kA, it should hold up to a little 60J pulse.
