I am making a new 4 inch tesla coil secondary. My old one was 28 gauge and 16 inches of winding. That is like 1000ish turns. I want to make my new one out of 24awg. I have 2400 feet and am using a 12kv 60ma nst with 60hz. I am using arsg with 180 bps but i will take it down to 120 bps when i get the new secondary. What i want to know is how many turns or what the length should be.

Your cap is probably too big, or you may have a mismatch somewhere. I try to use 2x Cself for the toroid, but right now I'm re-evaluating my numbers, so that might not be the best, but it should improve performance. Try to keep the cap value at 1.5x Resonant and you should have better performance.
