If you would need to build 24/7 working SSTC which way would you go ?
For such situations in museum I always build SGTC-s and they perform forever reliable. But now they insist on SSTC with 8-10 inch sparks.
Im not sure which way to go, and this is what i made until now:
Secondary
4.5 " diameter Legth 7.5 " (5" winding, 1" free down and 1.5" free up) 1150 turns of 38 AWG FRES ~222 KHz Topload 8 inch sphere FRES with topload ~96 KHz
Primary
Lexan pipe, 1 cm bigger than secondary 25 turns of 1.5 mm AWG 17
Bridge:
Fullbridge :
4XIRFP460 15 V zeners 10 Ohm resistors on gate MUR460 diodes Massive heatsing with fan
And now im not sure with what to drive it?
TL494 is out of question (Richies design) Steve MINI SSTC seems the best way to go Steve PLL - not sure, never worked fine for me
