So here's my new plan, seeing how that little eimac tube i got kinda sucks for anything but a tiny coil i have a new plan that maybe one of you could help me with. I found a russian gu43a tetrode, its rated at 1000watts and 3.3kv the problem is i don't know how the schematic is going to work, should i just connect the grid and screen together and run it like a triode or is there a better more efficient way of wiring it. i don't have much experience in this area so Any help you guys could offer would really be appreciated.

Well i had a little pentode from a little tv set, i just connected grid and screen and ran as triode and used steve ward 811a schematic. Mine only had 600 volts on plate though. But i still got breakout. If no one gives you an answer soon just go ahead and test with screen and grid connected. Try an mot with doubler for power supply.
Hi guys I have used several tetrods for my VTTC. The big one that I am building is also using a tetrod. For the grid I am apllying some positive voltage (about 400V through 2 x 15W 220V lightbulbs to limit the current). When I used 6p45s (again tetrode) I used 4.7k to connected it to the high voltage (the plate) and it worked fine. Also you can use the second grid to modulate the coil.

Modulating the coil using the second grid, thats a cool idea
So i ordered the the gu43a, time to start gathering some parts together and hopefully i'll have this all put together in a few weeks. Only thing that sucks is the tube is water cooled but i'll either make a cooling system for it or run it at a low rms.

So i have some more parts ordered, i got a adjust-a-volt variac for 25 bucks, some power resistors for cheap. Need to get some caps and a few other odds and ends though.
Hey what if i just grounded the screen, would that work or would it be better if i took huben's advice and maybe ran it through a resistor to the plate
