I built this one and talked to the guy who designed it, You draw the arc of the caps but completely leaving out the ground or the frame of the MOTs themselves. use a good 10 amp or 5 amp ballast when drawing arcs, and try to match the MO caps as well as possible I made this one really

I'm not really sure if I want to use this power supply in fear of violently exploding a breaker or something when the MOT's go to pull 40 A (exaduration) from the wall...

With two really powerful mots you can expect some 20A for 120V supply, when output is shorted (you draw arcs). Unloaded they will pass only a little of current. With good fuse I dont see problem there.

If you have them mots with shorted secondaries make a good ballast. Even with 1 mot ballast my stak will pull 23amps from 120. With no ballast my mots will pull over 30amps (for about a second) before tripping the breaker. A ballast is a must if you are going to use them for tesla coils.

I just wanted to point something out about the first circuit using 2 MO caps in series as part of the rectification circuit. That is that there may be some really NASTY even LETHAL potentials on the can of the first cap in the string. Because the can itself is ground lifted for the higher potentials, a charge can build up on the can. I had a nasty experience with this a couple of times, which gave me quite a shock from the can which I thought had enough isolation, but I was very wrong about this.
Okay, so whats the point?
Well, when you have the two strung in series its no big deal right? Well, not necessarily if you put BOTH hots NEXT to each other! This I think is a serious fault of the implementation. I would not have both cans so close to each other. I would separate them by an inch! I think its waiting for one of those Sectacular Failures.
