You should put protection diodes on the caps. When powering a large load a negative voltage is put on the caps. Also if you are using a 6 volt transformer through this voltage multiplier to power the ignition coil you will need about 12 amp input or you would be getting free engery (which is impossible)

I think he is trying to multiply the high frequency HV AC that comes out of the ignition coil! I dont see the post by the original author that says anything about 6 amps?!

in that case you can not, since that thing just turns DC on and off, this multiplier circuit needs an input that changes its polarity, for that you need 2 totem pole outputs of some sort (and one of them with an inverted input) you can use 2 IC outputs for low current or an H bridge of mosfets or BJTs for high current

AFAIK you can use electrolytic caps because they are never charged in the opposite direction (the diodes see to that) but you have to make sure not to over volt them or discharge them without a current limiting resistor.
