Ok, so i couple days ago, things started happaning: The desktop backround would change and say "spyware dectected! download antivirus" After a couple minutes of not using the computer, beetles would come up, and walk around, leaving blue trails in there wake, when this happens, EVERYTHING stops running. I think this wants you to belive you have a virus, then a message comes up and says "do you want to download antvirus?" i click know, but it keeps happening. I ran Norton full system scan a couple times, it comes up with nothing. Any help? if no one knows about this, how can i reset to a system restore point?

That kind of a 'virus' was met the first time a few years back... I remember it even was in the newspaper. It was pretending that your computer has a bad virus and offered a commercial 'antivirus' tool which really did nothing.
In your case I'd first check on the startup lists for suspicious entries. You can use Starter for that. And if your Norton doesn't find any viruses, it can't be anything too bad. You might still wanna run an adware scan (Ad-Aware?) as this kind of 'virus' would be rather concerned as adware.

Important steps you should take in order
1. Boot in safe mode < I cannot overemphasize this, booting in safe mode prevents almost all viruses from being able to load, allowing you to remove (most) of them 2. Use various AV tools, install them, in safe mode then scan. You can use safe mode with networking to download updates if your AV is not up to date 3. Run Spybot Search and Destroy and/or AdAware. 4. Run 'msconfig', go through the startup items list and google anything suspicious looking, if its confirmed to be virus related, go delete the file, then remove the entry from the startup list. 5. If you have another computer, look up symptoms, names of processes running, and in some cases manual registry edits do need to be made.
