Hi all,

I am making a PLL Tesla Coil now, and I decided to use the Uzzors Schematic:
Link2

Ok, My Current feedback transformer is not 1:30 its 1:60 (I think its doesnt matter if get more turns)
And instead the IRF630 I tested two things:
One MJE13007 (can work with very high frequencies, and can handle 400V at 8A or 16A Pulsed)
One 40N03 Mosfet (only tested with 24V)

Ok, it doesnt work, so I need some help.

Tomorow I gonna have a scope to use (at my school) and I want to know what exact I can do to get it to work.

Thanks!!

Coil Specs:
Primary Turns: 12
Secondary Height: 8cm
Secondary Turns: 598
Secondary Diameter 3cm
Indutance: 3mH
Fres: 2.1Mhz
Self-Capacitance: 1.6pF
Topload: Metal piece

You could describe the problem a little more. Is the transistor failing? No output?

One problem I see is that your coil Fres is 2.1MHz. The maximum operating frequency of the VCO in CD4046 is 1.4MHz. You could try 74HC4046 as it can handle 14MHz (remember it needs 5 volts in!). Or you could wind a new coil. Well, you decide.

With a scope you could check the PLL output waveform and the gate waveform.

Well for some reason i also had trouble with the feedback current transformer at first with a similar design ,so i would recommend to test it with an antenna first

Be sure to check if you can actually drive the circuit in the required freq range , and also the secondary resonance freq

I tested the PLL on the school, it wasnt working because I forgot to put the ground wire on the board ¬¬.
Ok, Working now, I put it on 20Mhz Scope, and measure, it gets 1Mhz and the fine-adjust is working. I get a Function Generator and Put it at the 4046 feedback, and vary the frequency between 300Khz to 2Mhz. When I see on the scope I get the same wave but it seens to be three of it, (Sorry I forgot to take a pic)

About the frequency, on the datasheet its says TIP 1.4Mhz, I think it can get more, but If I cant, I will try other secondary that I have, it have self-ressoant at 1.7Mhz, I can down it with a good topload

Remember that the CT phasing is important. IIRC it would work somewhat with the wrong phasing, but as you tuned in on perfection it would suddenly lose track and need tuning all over again.

Hmm, I try with a lower fres coil (Now 849kHz), but I think I will need a mosfet for that, the MJE13007 isnt reacting with that, I get no current at the PowerSupply (I think 1Mhz is to high to MJE13007)

Hmm, Ok, I found here two mosfets.
Its IRF1104, Hexfet 40V 100A.
Can I use it for the PLL SSTC?
