Something I found to be interesting is that the lifter will work with positive on the small wire and negative to plate or reverse polarity and it will work the same. that was with 25 to 30kv dc tv power supply.

After some adjustments in the power supply, to obtain a bit more of voltage, I had the lifter working more reliably:

The power consumption from the power line is just 13 W:
