Hi all.
Has anyone else run into this? Instant blue screen on restart after installing SP3.
This is with the "official" kosher Microsoft approved SP3 distributed via Windows Update.
Have run into a problem where a DLL isn't updated correctly, requiring me to manually copy it to the system32 directory, but that is easily fixed.
"If you installed it and can get into safemode, then go to HKEY_Local_Machine>system>Current Control Set>Services Find intelppm and change the value from a 1 to a 4.
If you have not install SP3 yet on your AMD based system do that registry change first to prevent the issue."
Regards, -A

If I remember correctly it is caused by some installs are wrongly set up to start intelppm.sys at boot. Since the actual file is missing it does not cause any big problems. When SP3 installs it sees that intelppm.sys is set to run at boot and installs the latest version. So when the computer boots it will run the Intel file in addition to the AMD file and it all blows up.
Anyone trying the fix must be 100% sure to be running an AMD processor, if not it will most likely cause serious problems since you need one of the two files.
