If I turn the hv winding around on one side of a NST both HV leads will ark to the core but not to each other. Making a 12kv 30ma transformer in to a 6kv transformer. My question is would the 30ma go up or stay the same?

No , why would the induced current change if you only made a 180 degree phase shift to one of the windings??? if you want more current then connect the the windings in parallel (or just use one winding if it can handel the 60ma)

I think if you turn the HV coil "upside down", the direction of the winding will still be same so you will still get 12kV between the outputs. You would need to rewind the coil in the other direction in order to do what you want. Then if you connect the coils in parallel, the current would be 2x30mA=60mA.

When the coils are both in phase you will have a situation where the hot lead arcs to the ground, but not hot to hot. If you parallel your hot leads then yes you do double the current when the coils are the same phase.

once or twice when i was making repairs to the windings I put it back together wrong, and then when i parallel it with other nst I could tell something wasn't corect. But was thinking, if i change the winding on two more nst I could get lots of cerent with less transformers.
my coil is running good right now but I'm sure I will run out of stuff to put to top and then Ill take apart the nsts again and try it.
Hmm lower voltage would be better for caps. one hot wire that could be good.

Good work unpotting and cleaning up all those NSTs, sir I never thought of trying to reverse one of the coils, but I guess it would work like you said.
