One of the complications may be the actual dynamics of the initiation process. If you want to examine the bridge-wire element of the squib you need to make a determination as to whether you want it to vaporize (highest efficiency) or simply get hot.
IF you just need it to get hot to initiate some black powder, radio waves could work. The switching is really not the challenge IMO, the aspect of what is to take place needs to be weighed as well.
