Hi, I just had this idea the other day totally randomly, I suppose the only limiting factor with SSTCs is the switching semiconductor, overcurrent, overvoltage. So why not have a triggered spark gap Tesla coil. So in a fullbridge you would have something like 4 trigatrons I don't think theres no real power limitations so you could build a massive SSSGTC? Can anyone see any problems why this would not work?

Seems like on-one has actually tried (and documented) the idea though, the triggered spark gap is the closest but not into some sort of bridge as in a SSTC. Anyone want to be the first? I would bout I can see it being very complicated and expensive...
