What can I do with this stun gun?

I have a cheap 100,000V stun gun that I opened to see what's inside.
There's a flyback transformer driven by a single transistor. The output is rectified with 3 1n4007 diodes and charges a 0.33 uF cap. the cap is connected to a pulse transformer and a spark gap. I guess it's charged to about 2kv before the spark gap fires and the cap discharges into the pulse transformer. It produces about 10 - 15 sparks per second depending on the battery.

What could I use that for? Build a tesla coil out of it? Maybe I can build a high voltage dc supply. I wonder if the pulse transformer can be used as a flyback transformer.

I think the "best" use for stun gun is what it was intended to tongue

The average power from the pulse transformer is minimal and you cannot run it in continuous output mode because it has very low inductance (it is just wound over a rod core) and it would surely overheat in few seconds.

People use them as "spudgun" ignition sources/

"Cheap" and 100KV shouldn't really apear in the same sentence very often.
I doubt this item generates anything like that voltage.

Unless it can spark at around 10cm it's not 100kV, and I assume the spark gap isn't that stupidly large. Stun gun ratings are complete bogus in most cases, have you checked the actual sparking range for a voltage indication?

Oh, just search Ebay. There are "1,000,000V" models for sale.

Of course it doesn't actually produce 100kV.
The spark gap 2 cm wide

It doesnt need recifying, its already rectified to charge the cap. Not much you can do, since they are usually low milliamperage, and the power output is pulsed. Maybe you could try using it in a tesla coil, but dont expect awesome results.

The silly voltage rating goes out a stupid use of the transformer law. Since most stunguns use 1000T secondary and 20T primary on the pulse transformer and the firing voltage is something near 2KV, using V2 = V1 * T2/T1 = 100KV. Of course this is purely theoretic because
1: the secondary leakage inductance together with capacitance will limit this to a lower value
2: the transformer willl arcover internally, surface track, and even producing corona (this is a small load) that will limit the voltage
3: this isn't the right formula
4: see point 3
5: get rid of it, it is dangerous and illegal wink
6: <put a note here>
