Sorry if this is stupid, and before you rip my head off for not doing my own investigation, I DID!

Where are the electrons coming from in my secondary? I understand that it works, but why?

changing current=changing field changing field makes changing current, how come?

Super simple answer:
The electrons are in there already, the changing magnetic field just moves them around.

then the magnetic field of the primary pulls them into higher energy orbit?

Not the higher energy orbit. They just get moved through the conductor.

When air is ionized the electron go to a higher energy orbit. When they jump back into the lower energy orbits they release a photon.

Is this right?

The is a sea of free electrons in the metal structure. B field pushes them around to create E field. Have enough E field and you rip electrons off air molecules.

As you move the move a magnet around a conductor (eg a copper wire) it will shift the electrons from atom to atom.
Now imagine this happening along the whole conductor, now you have an electron flow.
As you can imagine, they only move when you move the magnet.
that is why you need a changing magnetic field to create a 'flow' of electrons, otherwise they are still (staying in their atom) and there is no current.

thanks, I was concerned when I opened up my text books and all they ever said was, changing magnetic field make currents!
