hi all, after searching ebay i have found what i hope are some suitable decouping caps for my proposed drsstc. 3800uF 400 volt or 5800uF 400volt. i am limiting myself to what i get from a doubler from the 240 volt mains and 16 amps. would 4 of these be a good start. i already have 10 1000 UF 250 volt caps for the doubler. i like arons coil but maybe i should start with something a little smaller.

Hi Bob,
I would say thoughs storage caps would be fine, Just make sure they are good quality caps.....low ESL, ESR. Thats a big coil you propose to build for your first DRSSTC! Yes...Arons DRSSTC coil was a great thread to read about, but even with his low inductance lay out, he had problems with transients killing IGBTs over a certain mains voltage even though his IGBT's were rated, if i remember at 1200 volts....so you might not want to turn up your doubled storage voltage too high.
