There was a lot of heavy glass in front of my sensor so the chance of any radiation making it from AM-241 to the sensor is zero. Except for the weak gamma radiation that will go through anything. Just to make sure I used a filter to block visible light to make sure the image was only caused by light.
The sensor alone with a glass window in will register a picture from beta radiation. I have done that with a CCD sensor. To register the alpha radiation the sensor have to be bare which will require a bare sensor to avoid blocking the radiation.
You will not be able to use a normal CCD sensor to generate power since it requires significant energy to shift out the charges, but it will work as a usable detector. The most interesting thing would be to place it in a vacuum chamber with a pinhole to try image the radiation directly.

strange wording there, but remember that the gamma is charged too, and for the same reason ordinary EM fields create video noise, so will gamma rays (which will make things worse)... but please elaborate on the filter:
