This thread should be pretty self-explanatory.
I'm Simon, the other down-under mod.
I'm a student, mid-way through a science degree with majors in maths and physics. When I'm not at studying I'm usually playing pool (an excellent reason for studying physics) or doing Taekwondo training or 4HV stuff.
I don't have a job at the moment. I make most of my money during the summer and then make the rest any way I can during the year. Last summer I spent three weeks hacking code at our state power utility offices. The summer before I worked at Jaycar, probably the only decent electronics retailer left in the world.
If I think of anything else later I'll add it but this should be enough to get the thread rolling.

I'm Peter, the 16 year old genius
I have been into electronics sine I was 3 (or so I am told) I built my first logic circuit in the 3rd grade, and by the 5th I was programming basic stamps. I first got into hv when I came across a ccfl inverter... Things got exponentially worse from there, coilguns, tesla coils, etc.
Since I am still in school I don't work, but now that I am 16 I might be looking for a job somewhere local over the summer...
My other hobbies include chemistry (not so much of a hobby, but since my high school doesn't have any electronics classes I am in AP chem), rocketry (my largest rocket is 4" in diameter, 7' tall, about 10lbs, powered by a N20+PVC engine [about 1000newton seconds total impulse], goes about a mile, and will soon have a gps tracking system). rc (mostly nitro cars), boy scouts (I am an Eagle), PIC's (just getting started), etc

Im shayne a 16 yr old part genius. lol i am told i am smart but i dont really use it, which i think is somewhat true, mostly expiriment with TC started around summer of 04 and cant stop, i am in school for welding, no current job but plan to have one in the summer or soon because i need money to buy HV stuff, i am very crafty, and fabricate a lot of things, well i think i am feelin like im on myspace or sumthin so im not goin to go into too much more.

This is sort of off topic but it coencides with the above 2 posts. I'm 16 and the thing Is i'm also very gifted with all of the sciences etc. but at home I do so many science oriented things than other people so at school, most classes bore the hell out of me, which sometimes leads to poor performance...mabye its the same for you guys...

Hey, I'm james. 29 years old, live in Perth, Western Australia. I'm currently working as I.T. support for a major University, where I start studying Physics and Nanotechnology next semester. My hobbies include HV of course, motorbikes, women, and drinking myself into a stupor.

Hi there, I'm Matt, the down-under wannabe-mod and wannabe-genius 17 years old, live in Sydney, Australia. I'm currently slaving away in preparation for my half-yearly exams starting tomorrow. I have studied / am studying 2U chemistry, 2U engineering studies, 2U software design & dev, / 2U physics, 2U design & technology, 4U maths, 2U english (adv.).
My hobbies include digital electronics, pretty gurls, HV, volleyball, 3D modelling, game programming (mostly C++) and game design (worked a lot with the HL engine.. waiting for it to go open-source), pretty gurls, CAD/CAM/CNC, finding/repairing free stuff & flogging it on ebay, pretty gurls, firebreathing, and pretty gurls.

I'm Tristan, currently 27, and our first is turning 1 week old in 2 days I got into electronics before I can remember ( I think maybe in second grade I was given a 10-in-1 electr. project kit) since then I was hooked. I graduated to the 130-in-1 kit in 5th grade and started making my own circuits shortly there after. I went to vocational school for electronics tech during 11th-12th grade and had a great teacher, one who got me interested in Tesla and all sorts of HV stuff. My first year of vocational I competed in VICA (voc. ind. clubs of america) were students compete against other students in thier field. My first year I won locals and placed 2nd in New York State. My second year I aced the state comp and went to the U.S. nationals but unfortuneatly took 4th place in the U.S. because I am slow and ran out of time wiring up a UART circuit I then went to college for Electronics Eng. Tech. but have never finished. Took a good job offer while in school, droped out, and later got laid off. I just recently got a decent job again, working for AEP (a very large electric utility co.).
I suffer from EHS (excessive hobby syndrome). I have way too many hobbies, and that leads to insufficient time, money, and 90% of my projects are unfinished. SOme of my hobbies are: obviously HV, computer stuff, audio, ham radio, sci-fi, automotive, woodworking, biking, mountain climbing, deer hunting, camping, fishing, aquariums, skiing... dang seems like I am writing an ad in a singles publication or something

Hi all
I'm 27 and have a PhD in mechanical engineering. I work for a small electronics company in Scotland designing precision laser drivers and digital signal processing hardware, and writing firmware and driver software for it.
I've been a member of 4hv for ages, I can't remember how long. My main HV interest is building Tesla coils. My best coil was the OLTC2 a big solid-state coil powered by IGBTs that sucked over 4000 watts and made sparks over 6ft long. It was meant to be the biggest solid-state coil in the world, but Steve Ward and Jimmy Hynes pwned it with their DRSSTCs.
Outside of HV, I enjoy messing around with music and sound recording. I collected a load of equipment over the years and now have a small recording studio in my living room. You can download some of my tracks here or check out my music page on myspace
My job and most of my hobbies involve a lot of sitting around in front of computers, so I try to do some more athletic stuff to balance that out. My proudest sporting achievements are bench pressing my own weight, running a half marathon, and jumping the spine at my local skatepark on a mountain bike. And I think I once scored a goal at five-a-side soccer

Well, I'm Dan, I'll be 16 on the fifth, and was drawn into electronics after I had the need to build a timer for my first completely homebuilt rocket. Worked flawlessly the first time out, and just couldn't come to put away my iron. Since then, there have beens cannons, coilguns, TC's, basic stamps, PIC's, marx's, CW's, and everything else that I've ever felt like building, or ever found a schematic for. I'm also a sponsored skater, hence the pic in my profile. My current schedule is Alg. 2 H, Eng. 10 H, AP Euro, French 2, and Chem H. As with Peter, my school dropped their electronics class(the classroom is still FULL of components and test equipment..) so chemistry is a hobby of interest. Thats all for now.

My name's Joe, and I'm another 16 year old. Anyway, I got into HV a few years ago. It used to take up almost all of my time, but now I'm practicing guitar more and writing and playing music with my metal band. But I still love a good hamfest Not as cool as being a sponsored skater, though... Nice, Simon!
