I am planning to build a dual 833c VTTC and I have a scematic to intrduce for feesability. I have read Steve ward's vttc page witch lays it out pritty well. I stiill have a cuple of questions
1: How does the primary L,C get tuned(ie scope), for best output ?, is there a genral rule of thumb to get started. C will be mika caps 2: I am hopeing that my push pule might work so I don't have to deal with current sharing as much but it might be harder to tune. maby I can adjust R3 and R4 for the on time on each half cycle. 3: If I use Steve's paralell vttc schematic can I use a grid leak C&R for each 833 grid and trim those for power consumpion on each tube 4: what role does f secondary res play on spark shape. should I make f res secondary 350KHz or above to get sward sparks

1. Just adjust primary turns or tank cap for best output. And feedback coupling so that tube is in class-c operation for best efficiency. 2. Pushpull - It doesnt differ so much fron singletube oscillator. Good part is that there is no parasitic oscillations in pushpull circuit, No parasitic chokes are required. But you need two identical primarycoils and feedback. 3. Just put grids together and use single C&R. Make sure that there are parasitic chokes for each plate. Parallel tube systems are so sensitive for unwanted oscillations.. 4. Above 150kHz you can get sword like sparks like this one (my dual 4-250A oscillator, 700kHz): http://www.elisanet.fi/tonskulus/tesla/sparks4.jpg

thanks Tonskulus. I have recieved the first tube and start tinkering. your information is helpfull and will try a push-pull. Is there a general method for tuning primary and secondary? to get it tuned should the primary frequency and secondary be the same? Has any 833a push-pull been done buy any one eles? i guess I will find out thanks N.B.
