Hello everyone, just to intriduce myself, im Maximilian, i am German, so pleasy excuse it if my English isnt perfect.
Well i have built one Tesla coil 500 W System 6.3 Kv Neon Xfmr, it was a really crappy setup, no safety no chokes no filters nothing at all. But it worked just fine, no components took damage and with perfect tuning i got 70 cm arcs to grnd. (It was such crappy because ich smashed it together in 2 days or so for a school presentation; after the project hat lain dormant for 1 1/2 years )
Now i am currently Redesigning that beast(after another 1 1/2 years of dust accumulation on the top shelf) Power supply is completed, nice setup on wheels, 1.25 Kw 6.3 Kv, voltage could be higher, but well, 6.3 is very common in germany and i got the xfmrs for free, so who cares.
The General Matter of Tesla coil building is no problem, i havent messed with Tcs for 1 1/2 Years but i still remember everything important (Including that mmc's without bleeder resistors are not recommended, but i just dont have suitable resistors
But there is one Thing thats giving me a headake, Primary circuit setup, especially the filter choke array, i remember a really good essay on that topic from hull/quick/someone equally famous, but i cant recall what it said or where to find it. So thats my question: I have Power-grnd-Power Safety gap ; 2 Filter Unit HV capacitors; 2 rather small Choke coils on ferrite toroids and 2 270 Ohms Resistors (10 Watts ) First i intended to just use the common standard setup(like here ) , but somehow i still remember things about resonance and oscillations in filter circuits and that my components are not optimal........so which Filter config would you recommend , ähh edit..that made no sense, i meant LRC; L/LR; C/CR
