Hi all, I have here some problems with SSTC noises on Mains Line. All things that are connected to mains, get a very loud noise. I made a filter here, but I think it doesnt working good :( Someone know what can I use for Filter?
My Filter:
Mains -> 40uF 400VAC Cap -> 5x (1uF 600VAC Cap -> 2 10W resistors with a coil winded arround it -> 1uF 600VAC Cap) -> 200nF 250VAC Poliester Cap -> Variac -> SSTC.

Have you grounded the coil properly? If you have it grounded to mains ground, it can be that your wall outlets aren't properly grounded, just "nulled" (neutral connected to where the ground should be).
Try pounding a copper rod in the ground and using that instead.

RFI/EMI/EMC etc etc. is a complex topic, my opinion;
1) Use mains 'earth' for everything on the primary side 2) Connect the bottom of the secondary to a separate 'earth' (e.g. a pipe pounded into the ground) OR make a separate 'earth' by laying a couple of meters of aluminium foil on the floor/carpet etc. OR the best is to make a faraday cage around the sstc and use that as the 'earth' for the secondary AND use utility 'earth' 3) Use a commercial line filter, you need both differential and common-mode filtering.
P.S. the wire from the base of the secondary to whatever earth you use is an aerial/antenna for the broadband impulsive noise currents produced when arcing, so length and routing are important.
