started a new drsstc after i had so good results with my drsstc7. cause im invited in a tv show for february 14th i thought it would be good to finish this drsstc for the case one catches fire or explodes or something :P yeah, im a safe guy.
ok. this drsstc wil be stronger, more compact and suited with primary feedback, a brick fullbridge up to 800A peak and some other guts i thought about.
cause my new driver topology is already tested and very useful to drive big loads at high frequencys i used bricks (gca200aa60 200A continious 400A peak) every igbt has a gate capacitance of around 20nF and with the new driver i got risetimes of 80nS and falltimes of around 100nS
i nearly finished the electronics and now im waiting for my wire to start winding the secondary coil (11x55cm with 0,25mm wire) with a 10x40cm toroid and a small one i get around 80-90khz resonant frequency.
i added some guts such as an active signal catch for every gdt which lights up an led when feedback is ok and a squarewave signal is on its way.. that will be fun, cause the leds should light up on every tone i play. yep, for sure, this coil is a musical drsstc.
yep, the bridge looks a bit funny, but its an low inductance design with the cap mounted as close as possible to the igbts. mmc is 0,33µF 6.4kV and primary coil is made out of 6mm copper pipe. inductance 10,5µH of course. the driver has an active overcurrent limiting etc,. everything is tested and the only thing lef is the secondary and a few other small things. btw: the case is selfmade :))

Might not be a case of life and death but your low inductance bridge might not be as low as it could be because you have your gdt's far from your igbts and the zeners too. It's much better to have long wires on the primary side of your gdt's than on the secondary side.

yup thats right. but i had no way to mount them safe closer to the igbts.. should be no problem at all. i did some longtime tests with load at several frequencies and everything seems to be ok.

mhh. since i build my drsstc6 i killed exactly 0 igbts so far..
made some final tests. cause im still waiting for my wire, i decided to prepare the setup for a long time test (30minutes) i turned up the bridge voltage to around 100V dc and connected the primary. after i had a minor failure in the feedback part (a shottky burned up cause i soldered 1n4148 instead of 12 V zener diodes, lol) everything worked like it should. i adjusted the on time to get around 200A primary current. ´ made some scopeshots and measured temperature and some other things. the heatsink got barely warm after half an hour.
measured frequency 80,64khz
here are some pics of the current setup
closeup of what my probe picked up next to the primary. not a good shot, but as you can see, it looks like it should, hopefully :PP
