Well, my original intend was to copy Steve's Mini SSTC. However, my scope just dead for unknown reason yesterday. Before my new scope arrive next week, I decided to play with other design instead of just waiting. After checking what parts I have in stock, I decide to copy Steve's Micro SSTC. I fact, the driver is nearly the same as Steve's Class-E so after my new scope arrived I can quickly turn it into a Class-E SSTC. It costs me nearly 3 hours to build the driver(Secondary taken from my old SGTC ) Although I am using the interrupter, the spark is only 1.5cm in length(this makes me doubt that if the interrupter is working correctly.). IFRP460 is only a little warm after running for 1 minutes without heatsink.
Update: Well, i found the problem. My interrupter is NOT working at all. The 555 is dead. I should have tested it....Now the steamers reach nearly 4cm and the FET is as cold as the ice. I will post some new pics later.

I have wound a new secondary for both my MicroSSTC and MiniSSTC . Around 850turns with a sphere(4") as topload.
I don't know the exact resonant frequency, but I guess it drop to 5xx khz or so when topload is used.
As for the voltage into primary, it's around 30Vdc.
I know you are trying to power it with 9Vdc. Chances are that you will not get any breakout but light some fluorescent tubes. With interruptor, I can get 4~5 cm breakout. However the fet does hot quickly.
