I am also somewhat surprised that they used a ferrite core for the series inductor... Might explain why he has such a huge heatsink !confused He did take the effort to add a separate pin for the gate drive, so it looks like it should be possible to run at considerably higher voltages and use a separate 12v gate supply Although I can't make out the p/n on the fets, he might have used something with a lower Rds than the irfp250.
As an aside, robin did pretty obviously copy Mazzilli's design (down to the questionably accurate name...), and no where on the site is his name mentioned....
