I'll try to get a better video sometime, and i'd love to start playing with the ideas of a plasma woofer- figure out some way to have a silent flame with a bandpass filter- maybe have it just go on bass drum kicks... I'll see what i can come up with smile

I think not tongue you would have to create a VERY powerful arc to move enough air to create bass sounds at acceptable volume...

Nice vid btw

Hehe, and I just wanted to recommend using a formerless coil - did you se cure this one with resin?

Tungsten rod in air would probably oxidize quickly - best way to get rid of heat is to use a highly thermally conductive material for breakout point and a heatsink. If you have a lathe you could etch a small heatsink (like those tube cap heatsinks) with breakout point on top.

It would act as a topload so it may affect the system somewhat.

I know I'd have to move a lot of air, and that calls for high power! It would be a fun idea to toy around with though, i wonder if a larger "flame" was used and was turned nearly completely on and off.... hmm cheesey I ordered some 14 gauge wire to rewind a new secondary, as the old formerless one gets quite warm, and at high power levels, the tip melts and turns the flame green. And yes, the current secondary is secured with some 225 degree Fahrenheit epoxy.
