Hi
I have half-bridge 600W fixed frequency sstc and it make 30-25cm sparks, but with 74HC14 it just 12-15cm, so i make lessen primairy (4 turns) and its was 1000W, bu spark is same length,
So how to make longer spark ? maybe use full-bridge ? or make bigest vire secundary ??
any ideas ?

Did you measure the power correctly? Is it W or VA?
It can be the 74HC14 circuit runs slightly detuned cause there's a delay in the feedback path.

yes the PLL can lock exactly to resonant frequency and seems more stable with ground arcs

I'm not sure.. I would use black ferrite instead the yellow powder core, although for CT nearly anything will work I think. You would probably be better if you made your own.

That CT will not work, you need a ferrite core not a powdered iron (as is linked). It works well to just wrap ~50 turns on a core that you would use for a gate drive transformer, and pass the secondary ground wire though the center.

As to making long sparks, generally speaking the lower the duty cycle the longer the sparks will be (up to a point of course).

Also, the lower the operating frequency of the coil the longer the sparks should be.

Also, the geometry of the secondary seems to play a large part in how long of a streamer you can produce, with the small/fat resonator on my 3000w sstc I can only get about 15cm, but the sparks are extremely hot/fat.

and maybe use 0,1mm vire, not 0,223 ?(i going to make new, 8cm diametre, 25 cm hight
)

Its funny... many times i find tesla coils work a little better if you can detune the driving frequency. With the basic feedback coils, you are stuck driving it at whatever the secondary wants, but this isn't always what "grows" the best sparks! I think this is part of the "mystery" around VTTCs making nice long straight sparks. It mainly has to do with the power envelope of the streamer, which is based on the primary circuit operation. Its all pretty messy to emulate on a SSTC so it might just come down to luck. I found all of these factors to be annoying, so i build DRSSTCs now smile.
