I'm pretty clueless, but I'm certain just picking up the cell didn't do it.

Might be from an electrostatic discharge. Ever been zapped getting out of the car? That could ignite the vapors.

This is what I read from it.

They did not behave like experienced workers, the body languge was more like rappers. There seems to be two hatches open on top of the truck while it is driven in.

He takes something out of his pocket, transfers it to the right hand and drops it in. He manages to turn almost completely before any light is visible so he knows that something unpleasant is likely to happen.

Accidents with petrol are not uncommon, hundreds of people are killed every year in similar incidents.

Why are there bowling balls everywhere?

I think those are balloons wink

And Bjørn, what do you propose he dropped? In all honesty, a wrench or a match? You're right, even on that shoddy low frame rate video you could see him turn away, and no one is that fast when taken by surprise.

He looks into the tank first so it suggests that what he is doing is to find out how much petrol there is in the tank. He also puts the hand down the hatch like he has a flashlight or something. Maybe he dropped it by accident and saw a blue flame spreading out just before the explosion.

Since the fumes are heavier than air the mixture would be richer at the bottom and it is possible to have a spark ignite a slow burning flame that will last a short time before the explosion.

It is very hard to imagine anyone using a match or a lighter to light up a large tank filled with explosive fumes but things like that do really happen. The main reason I think it is not a match is that it lookes like he has done it before and I am pretty sure that dropping lit matches into large petrol tanks is unsafe enough that it can never develop into a habit.

Most defiantly from electrostatic discharge... there are recorded cases and test that show how static can ignite a tank from a car
