Hi all!
I'm going to build an SSTC using the Steve Ward's well-known Micro SSTC circuit. I'm going to run it with a 9volt rechargeable battery. The parts have been ordered and will come soon. I've already wound the secondary coil (not optimal diameters for SSTC but I think it will still work). I'll post more information when the thing is running!
Any comments and advice are welcome!
UPDATE: I have tried various circuits and none of them worked. I got two 6V 3Ah SLA batteries, so I will be experimenting with them and PLL circuit. Now the 9V battery project is buried. Maybe one day I'll continue experimenting with the 9v battery idea, but I don't feel like doing that just now.

Really? I think you won't get any spark with such weak battery, I think at least 30-50W supply is needed to get some little sparks out. If you need it to be portable and be able to run without an outlet nearby, I suggest two lead-acid batteries in series for 24V at a few amps.

Actually those little rechargeable batteries are little beasts... They can supply a few amps of current! And I've got a 8xAA 2500mAh battery pack too (should try with it?) BTW, yesterday I got a small SGTC working with two camera transformers powered with four 1.2V 850mAh batteries (see here). And I like to experiment with low power applications . Well, we will see how it works!
