I like the dual NE555 timer (same one Steve Ward uses) version because frequency adjustment doesn't screw with the pulse width like the single timer version does.
I fully agree with Tom540. This type of Interrupter gives you freedom. You don't have to worry when you change your frequency that the pulse width will change. While with only one 555 it is possible to overheat and destroy your bridge before you notice what is happening.

About Burst mode, I like to think of it as interrupting the interrupter. It basically does exactly that, allowing you to use extremely high BPS or duty cycle for short periods. I left that out on my interrupter, however, in favor of single shot.
