I have compiled Scantesla 8.10 with optimizations for modern processors and on my computer it is about 5 times faster than the original and seems to produce the same results. The only changes I did was to comment out some stuff that was specific for old DOS compilers like gotoxy(). It probably needs a Pentium 4 and Windows or something similar to run. If someone could try it out and see if it is a lot faster and working on their computers too it would be helpful.

I'm running XP and it does an illegal operation upon running -- should I set any compatibility modes?

My operating system is XP Professionsl (V5.1.2600) and the recompiled Scantesla won't run (doesn't appear to even start). Curiously, XP won't provide any debug information after attempting to run the program. Processor is 1.6GHz Pentium M in a Dell Inspiron 9200 laptop with 1Gb of RAM.

I failed to mention the crucial point that it needs the original Scantelsa 8.10 files to run. It failes for me too when run alone. The original has the same problem so the source could do with a bit of a cleanup. Unzip this archive and drop the new .exe in with the files and try it.

Bjorn -

OK, the missing files appear to have been the cause of my problem. After adding them, ScanTesla seems to run fine. Judging only by how quickly the parameters are updated, your recompiled version seems to run about 3X as fast as the original version.

That sounds good.

Anyone with a good old Pentium 4 or AMD processor?

Now all it needs is an easy to use GUI and to be rid of that annoying .txt file.
